Do you ever wonder why you're so constipated, have pain, gas and other discomfort in your stomach? The reason may be very simple: You're not eating enough food.
This is not what most of us want to eat when we have these problems. We're hoping that maybe there's another solution to this, because we don't want to eat more — because that could mean gaining weight.
Should You Eat Cleaner to Avoid Constipation?
You may have heard that fiber helps to fight constipation… So you get even better at “clean eating” and pile more kale and veggies on your plate. But the truth is that too much fiber can make things worse, and kale, as awesome as it is, is really hard to digest for humans to begin with.
Could You Be Under Eating?
So take a look at your eating habits. Are you limiting your calories severely, to lose weight? Bump up your workouts to burn more and end up in even larger caloric deficit? And then stop pooping, sometimes for days?
Take a look at one of my client's stories… She had seen multiple doctors and been through many uncomfortable tests, from X rays to enemas to — get this — balloon expulsion tests.
She had to go through a lot, but she is now so much better. Her period is back, her constipation is gone, and her relationship is better than ever.
By the way… If you don't know what the balloon expulsion test is, here's basically how it goes: They stick a balloon into your rectum and fill it with water to mimic poop, and your job is to push it out.
Not something that most of us probably would enjoy…
The Real Reason Behind Her Constipation
No doctor ever questioned her low bodyweight and most importantly, severe caloric restriction which, as comes out, was the exact reason behind her constipation.
Here's what caused her constipation:
- Simply too low calorie intake
- Causing decreased motility in digestive organs
- Intestines' inability to push food through the digestive system.
How Her Constipation Felt
- Sometimes she didn't poop for 2 weeks. Yes, 2 weeks!!
- She was always feeling full and heavy
- She was always gassy and had stomach pain.
What Helped Her Constipation
- She started eating more food, more calories, and other foods than just kale and veggies
- She started taking magnesium citrate (oxide is another alternative)
- She started eating fermented foods daily.
Pills May Not Be Necessary!
We all want the shortcut and take the pill to fix it quickly… Why do that if there's more natural solution, like eating real food and enough of it?
Note that I'm not a doctor and there definitely is a place for more serious treatments if the root cause of constipation is something more serious. Just be aware that UNDER EATING is one of the many reasons why your 💩 is not happening!
