Lately, I've been happy to take advantage of the beautiful summer and enjoyed a few early morning workouts in peace and quiet, when nobody else seems to be up yet.
Mornings, sunshine, kettlebells, quiet time, me-time, … The best part of the day. The best 10-15 minutes a day.
Training in the early morning sets the tone for my day. Sometimes I feel like really crushing it hard by doing a super intense HIIT that typically consists of bodyweight exercises. It leaves me super energized and ready to kick off the day with a lot of adrenaline.
Other times I go slower and heavier and for example, use kettlebells. In these workouts, the added weight makes you pay even closer attention to your form than when working out with bodyweight only.
These workouts are more zen in nature–I really put in a lot of mind power and move through the exercises with extreme focus.
Sane & Simple Kettlebell Workout
When I'm working out with kettlebells, my workouts consist of 3-4, or rarely 5 movements. I like to keep them sane and simple. There's no reason to make things more complicated, because most kettlebell movements work your whole body anyway.
When you're sure your form is great, amp up intensity and work faster!
Below, you'll find my recent Sane & Simpe Kettlebell workout.
Here's one more time what you're going to do if you do this workout:
5 Double kettlebell clean, squat and press
10 Double kettlebell swings
15 Double kettlebell push presses
I used two 25lbs kettlebells for this one, but you use weight that is appropriate for you.
There you have it–three movements that take you about 15 minutes and you're ready to start your day. If you have more time, you can always add in some skill training, like handstands, pull ups, or whatever else you're working on.
Hope you feel as great after I did once I finished this workout!
There's no need to think about working out later when it's done in the morning! Of course, a hot cup of coffee and maybe a piece of lemon protein cheesecake are a mandatory part of post-workout rituals too.
Enjoy your day, friends!
