Do you feel like you need a special permission to eat, and find it particularly hard to eat more than you'd intuitively feel like, even though you KNOW that this is what you need to do for under eating or hypothalamic amenorrhea recovery?
But here's the deal… If you have hypothalamic amenorrhea or an eating disorder that requires you to gain weight, you just HAVE to eat more than what you would maybe intuitively want.
If you have HA or anorexia, you can’t do the intuitive eating thing. “Eat when hungry, stop when full” is the message that many people need to hear and follow, but it’s NOT for you if you actually need to put on weight. Because if a person who has been suppressing their appetite for years, listened to their hunger signals and intuition, they would barely eat anything.
If you don’t have hunger signals, set your alarm for every 3 hours and eat. If just a small amount of food of food makes you full, you need to push yourself a bit. Sorry but that’s how recovery goes. It’s not comfortable but without discomfort there will be no recovery.
Can’t “allow” yourself to eat? Okay, but can you afford to be infertile, have osteoporosis, have constant and never ending thoughts about food, potentially losing relationships, letting your HUGE potential in this world to go waste because you didn’t give yourself the permission to eat?
